Whistle you noticed that did you Rolling with laughter isn't all wiring fitted with a hammer? One of the fuse box screws was rounded so I was trying to get a screwdriver to sit better, that's my story and I'm sticking to it Whistle Ray

Ray, if you don't mind, did you drill out the mirror brackets and through the hindge ? I'm wondering what to do as my door hindges are starting to fail Big Cry or did you route them differently?? Looking for ideas

Hi Jim, yes I went through the hinge and into to door. A bit of a pain to do but a lot neater job in the end. I'm thinking of getting a new set of arms and drilling them then painting them properly as I stupidly missed this stage out when doing mine so they are starting to corrode Rolling Eyes Ray

One job always leads to another right? Wink

It'd a good idea though, one that a few of us could use 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

How do you mean? Is it you don't want to drill the ally hinges?

Here's a link that shows a way to fit them with drilling the hinges

That's the one Ray. Mind I am not convinced that I like a black hinge on Tonga Green. I also love the original plain look, theres some lovely engineered hinges with price tags to suit, but a bit too bling imo.

Again decisions decisions Whistle

Still you get a frost this morning to check your handiwork ?

You could always get the hinges painted up body colour?

No frost this morning so not fully checked yet but I did test for power to everything while fitting the wiring so it should all work Mr. Green (he says with fingers crossed)

I need to sort out seat heaters now to wire up the genuine switches I put in place about 3 or 4 years ago too Rolling with laughter Ray

This thread has put me seriously behind with my work!!!!

Figured I would start reading this thread whilst eating a sandwich for a late lunch - only trouble couldn't stop reading, and now gone 5pm!

Excellent job and wish I had a few of your skills, not to mention time....My TD5 currently looks how yours started off - same colour, minus 2 doors. Bow down

We had frost here Shocked My screen works............... and the seats Mr. Green Or was it the smugness that made it all luke warm ??
Fuse position 33 for the heated seats if its wired ? Mine wasn't on either, so I just put and inline fuse in. There are a number of ignition feeds there. You'll be pleased you bought the genuine switches 3-4 years ago............... £80 each now Shocked
Im leaning towards genuine painted hinges, They will probably work out similar money I expect, wonder how many years they'll last ?!?!

The price of the switches went up not long after I bought mine Mr. Green there is no wiring in mine so I'll have to put the lot in Big Cry which won't be cheap even Without the price of the switches. As for the hinges, make sure you don't buy the cheaper ones. I bought some mid range ones to replace the front door hinges when a young lad ran into me so thought I'd get them painted at the same time but they are starting to drip rusty water when it rains already Big Cry I've just replace the middle row doors recently with premium oem ones and the quality and finish is much better. Ray
