Locked Me Out Today !!
Land Rover Assistance to the rescue today, on my way home tonight down the M5 i stopped off at Morrisons just off the motorway at Western Super Mare and filled up with diesil then back on heading south, busting for a wee pulled off at Sedgemoor services jumped out engine still running to get my fleece out the back shut the back door and i heard that distinctive sound of the central locking activating, ohh Censored !!!!! how the f+++ did that happen. Phones on the dash wallet on the centre keys in and engine running.
Thought right then there is always an AA or RAC man flogging their services as you walk in ill go and bother him for a change and use his mobile. Shock horror no one there, quick scan round the car park no service vans lurking either. Look for pay phone go back in time 10years + and make a reverse charge call to the office, nop no payphones anymore taken out as no one uses them every one has mobiles, arse !!!!
Found a plater hitching very nice man let me use his mobile, now my phone is in the locked 90 as is the service and assistance book, i can't remember or even don't know my wifes mobile or our home no (does anybody these days ??) Had a look through the window and read the taxdisc holder rang Matfords got the standard you must ring assistance, explained i was on someone elses phone and could the please oblige.
Land Rover Assistance turned up aprox 1Hr 25min later, he was in in under 3 mins and i was on my way.
This has happened to me once before in my 57 plate and i got a spare key cut and hid it under the vehicle i think its tme to do that again. Guess where i am going tomorrow. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

With most Defenders pretty much ANY flat object that will fit in the lock will open the door with enough fiddling. A key of the right sort of shape/size, a spoon (hence comment above), a screwdriver etc.

When my central locking has locked me out (which it has done a few times) I've just used my house key to open the door. But failing that the general method for LRA or the AA or whoever would be to remove one of the rear 1/4 light windows and open the rear door from there.
