Looking at a 2.4TDCi
Ok,

Just spotted a DC TDCi near me that I like the look at! This could be expensive!

I've just searched and read some posts on the puma, reliability etc and was hoping you collective knowledge could help clarify the main things to look for?

It's O8 plated & I gather there was a clutch issue? If so how do I try to check if its a problem or not?

I've registered with TOPiX so I can check any specific recalls (I think)

I did see an issue with something to do with the transfer box and gear box connection. I think that was (? Bob Neville's one) but not sure if that was a specific issue!

I have a TD5 so checking the body work etc should be similar!

There doesn't seem to be any other major issues? Or have I missed something?

I appreciate this a common type question but the above is what I've understood from this forum!

Their not that un-reliable you know. I've had mine for just over 3 years and in that time I've only had the EGR to change due to it's age. Other than that only normal servicing and soon to be brake pads.
You can just imagine now that 6speed gear box and the new modern dash. A heater that works better than ever. The works. Whistle

I was forced to look at another defender after my TD5 was stolen last year. Was gonna replace with another TD5 but after seeing a puma, went for a test drive and loved it. Have not looked back and love it more than the TD5. Love the new dash, gearbox, how it drives. Only thing that I miss is the 5 cylinder growl!! Very Happy

Getting away from the inevitable lads gossip on here these days and referring back to the OP...

If it is a private or non main dealer sale and presuming it has a service history, make a note of the VIN then call into your nearest Land Rover main dealer who should then be able to che by Land Rover themselves.ck to see what recalls have been carried out Smile Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]
