1. Can I order a direct replacement yes 2. key thing you need its ABS or not, but having looked at your pic Id say none ABS can not see cable for abs sender and reg date i.e. 02 = 2A. Post CHASSIS NUMBER 4A front brake pipe changed abs or none abs end fitting are differentia
3. And is re bleeding the system straightforward yes, starting rear passenger side as pre LR work shop Manuel TD5 |

You can also make it yourself from copper pipe. Small investment in tools and copper pipe and you can make your own. Is one is in this state you might want to check the others too. Roel

Cheers guys great advice. Had a look and it looks straightforward enough. Just bought all the bits and tools, gonna replace the lot. Will update on how it goes.

Cut the pipe just above the nut so you can use a socket. Roel

Another question:
Do I need to drain down the system to take the damaged pipe out? Have just cut the damaged pipe above where it joins the flexi and brake fluid is continuing to drain out. Was expecting only minor fluid loss with the rest held in by the vacuum. Have plugged it for now and come in for me dinner. |

All the fluid from that circuit will drain out unless you take steps to prevent it, the easiest way being to wedge the brake pedal down. Alternatively remove the reservoir cap and put a poly bag or similar over the opening then replace the cap.

Job is all done now. Replaced all the piping both left and right front. Had ordered new flexi hoses too but they are stuck in transit somewhere, so put the old ones back on for now. Flushed and bled the whole system. All went well, no major incidents everything came apart okay. I never knew new brake fluid was so clear
Float switch in the reservoir was seized, so I have learned all about the wiring of the handbrake light on the dash, only real drama I had. Looks like I need new rear pads, so I think I'll do those, rebuild the rear calipers and replace the rear pipe work as my next project. |
