Defender 110 Puma Overheat / P1169 code
Hi (first post)- Just replaced my 90Td5 with a 2 year old 110XS. Only had the new car 3 days (bought from main Landrover dealer) when it suddenly lost power and the engine temperature gauge was in the red. Pulled up and no obvious overheat. Vehicle would not start so ended up calling Landrover assistance (who to be fair have been very good). AA patrolman logged code P1169 and also commented that there was some water drawn off from the fuel filter. Didn't look that much that me and probably result of vehicle sitting at the garage with an empty tank. It's now sitting at my local main Landrover dealer and I have expressed my extreme displeasure to the selling dealer !
Bit sick as I've driven all sorts of Defenders for >25 years and never had much of a problem until I spent £24k on one ! Anybody any thoughts on what could be the problem and also any longer term issues to look for ?

the temp gauge going up is not necessarily an overheat more a visual indication to you there is a problem with the vehicle somewhere that could be anything sensor related. Cheers

Thanks James, main dealer is on the same lines and after getting tech support from LR has ordered in replacement water temp sensor, hopefully that should fix the problem.

P1169 is a fuel rail pressure sensor fault. If it was the CHT then a different DTC would be logged. Get the dealers to check Service Action Q068 Thumbs Up

Finally got the vehicle back from the dealers today all fixed Very Happy Fault doesn't quite make sense as they have changed the temperature sensor, why this didn't bring up a different fault code I don't understand. Symptoms were very similar to those in the bulletin above. Just hoping that the fault doesn't still exist and the valve has just unstuck itself.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
