2001 TD5 Front screen replacment. More advice please
Hi, I have the front windscreen frame out on the bench. I'm repairing the bulkhead and replacing the window and a few other seals to try to keep the water out. A little advice please.

1) Would you fit the glass and seal to the frame while the frame its on the bench?
I'm thinking it would be easier if the frame in in the car so I won't have to chase it around the bench.

2) The windscreen seal, pic2 below. Sorry to be stupid, I just want to confirm which side goes out, which side goes in!

3) In pic1 you may just be able to see a lip in the lower part of the seal. Is this important? Should the glass go in this. The lip is right at the bottom of the two sides. It's only a few mm high.

4) When the seal is fitted, (pic4) should the join be top or bottom when in the frame?

The picture aren't great and would be happy to submit more if that would help

Thanks for looking at my stupid questions! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I didn't fit my windscreen, but when the paint shop tried it, they decided it was safer and easier to fit the screen in the car as the frame was effectively clamped down and could not move.

I have my old frame & glass in the shed so can take a picture if you want of the seal? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Ok slipped into the full sou'wester, donned the thermal boots, braved the sub zero arctic elements and fought off a large polar bear or two and got to the shed.

The join on mine is the bottom of the screen.
There is a indent that runs the full length of the rubber, this on the outside.
The middle picture is looking into the top right corner of the screen / passenger side
