oil gunge problem
Hi in a recent post on here i told you my Turbo failed, ive got a new one now but when I took the old one off, the oil feed pipes were really gunged up, now this puma has always been serviced by a main dealer until now, so has anyone any ideas why the oil would be like this and starve the turbo of oil, Should i now be changing the oil every six month instead of 12? and has anyone had this problem before Cheers guys

If your turbo failed and got hot, I would guess that the oil might have suffered in the feed and spill pipes, causing the grunge you describe. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk

Change oil at 6000 miles or 6months without fail.My grandfather was an automotive engineer at the turn of the last century (1899-1900).He always said to me the cheapest thing you can buy for a car is oil and grease.
My brother works for one of the worlds largest Quarry companies, they have put their mobile plant maintainance out to a third party.Service intervals have been extented from 125hours to 500hours,and failures have started to occur.A new v12 Cat engine is a tad more than a few gallons of oil! Its never over in my land rover.

Might have been true in his day but have you seen the price of modern oils - especially at main dealer prices Shocked
