England 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
what to do next.....
Big Cry

Big Cry

I've no doubt some of you will be thinking....lanes, battle scars and what the hell.....

but I didn't buy it for that. i wanted i timeless classic which I planned to keep in tip top condition for many years to come and something that would keep its value........

funny how things don't go quite as you'd hoped.?

any way car is in for various things at the moment which for the most part evolve around corrosion and intermittent problem with the engine......the engine has been a problem since day one however ironically the last month or so its seems to have improved??

anyhow drove past the dealers earlier - didn't bother getting out of the car but saw mine back from the paint shop and Big Cry

Big Cry
Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

looks like half the car was painted in India by TATA and the other half in the UK and needless to say they didn't get a vey good paint match.

bearing in mind this is all the result of warranty work and not my fault should I accept something that doesn't look 'perfect' ?

it must have an impact on re-sale value.....where do I stand with regards to accepting something? I'd never have bought it in the first place had it been presented to me in the state its now in?

Big Cry

You say you drove past but didn't get out - how can you tell the paintwork was that bad? Had it been finished, ie had its final polish?

Obviously if its been finished and ready to give back to you then any paint work shouldn't be visible. If it is don't accept it. Correctly done you won't notice it.

On a 110 be a little careful the rivets on the rear body side aren't painted over. My G4 had paintwork done very early in its life that covered the rivets on one side, I bought it knowing but it still drove me nuts!

yep all finished at the paint shop - so yes had final polish etc.

don't think there'll be an issue with the rivets as the issue was back door and forwards of that.

joy of joys. something else that now needs to be resolved Big Cry

as you say I was expecting the paint job to be so good such it would be visable.

on the plus side the dealer has been good in accepting all of the warranty claims - just a shame the work hasn't been undertaken to a higher standard.

If your not happy... then don't except the work!

Warranty work needs to be carried out to a standard where-by you can not tell it has been done!

My Defender has been at Guy Salmon for nearly the last two weeks having paintwork done....

If you are not happy, leave the car there - and a polite, strongly worded, email to the Dealer Principle/Managing Director often works. Whistle

If you had Colliers do the work (which actually gets done on the Tyburn Road) - then their best painter has left. But I know where he works!!! (as he does a lot of work for me).

Why shouldn't they accept all the warranty claims?

Will reply about the service - not a problem.
