Rear Screen de-mister not covered by extended LR warranty.
The top 4 demisting bars of the rear window on my 2009 have stopped working.

Rang Lookers to confirm it would be covered by the warranty and they say probably not as glass isn't covered Confused Surely that isn't correct - its the element that's broken down in the glass that is the issue and that's a fault which I think should be covered....

It was bought from a main dealer not (not Lookers) last April and is covered by the LR extended warranty.

Views, as always, appreciated... Cheers,

I would have thought as long as there is no sign of damage (someone actually breaking the element) then yes it should be covered by warranty.

Maybe call another dealer just to ask?

As it is something LR have changed the design to fix it should be covered. I believe the damage may be a caused by the brake light cover.

If you haven't already have a look at a brand new defender and show the difference to the dealer.

I had mine replaced recently and now have the type of glass where the heater elements clear the high level brake light cover. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

I replaced mine recently too for exactly the same reason. I managed to pick up a new take-off one to the new design from Sodbury for £65. Darren

I do have the extended warranty from Land Rover. I also had the top three wires not working anymore due to the brake light rubbing the wires. Beginning this week my rear window was replaced by the new model with the top heating wire running around the brake light. Land Rover warranty assumed the cost to do this without any questions asked, so suggest you don't let yourself be taken for a ride by them. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
