Its my fault tho because I was in work early at 6 and worked late to earn money to pay taxes to ensure the rights of these low life scum are maintained instead of sitting at home on my arse watching my mates on Jeremy Kyle and thinking who's property I can nick rather than being arsed to earn it, thereby placing temptation in their way safe in the knowledge even if they got caught no one would give a toss anyway.

For info I am a bit f Censored d off.

I think its replacement will be an old crappy just legal jobbie with a wheel cover. Anyone got a 235 85 16 on a rim suitable for a 110 and/or a wheel cover for a few bucks in West Yorkshire?

Thanks for listening.

Ashamed to say no idea. Bought it Feb this year and made assumption the locking wheel nut meant it did have. There were no nuts left on the floor - they swiped them too 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs)

Does anyone with a 2012 110 XS know if the wheel on the back door has a locking nut on it normally? 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs)

I would have thought that it would have had a locking nut, as far as I know if you had Boosts as standard then 5 locking nuts were standard too.

However, the LR locking wheelnuts are quite frankly a joke and hardly even slow down a thief. I am still looking for a satisfactory alternative locking nut, but my spare is secured with a motorcyle lock and chain. You can't stop the low life scum*, but you can make it easier for them to go somewhere else.

* Actually you can, but you have to catch them and kill them in a way which means you don't end up inside.

Sorry to hear that Evil or Very Mad
What tyres are they (presumably it would need to be the same type as your other 4?)

It has the standard 235/85/16 Continental AT tyres. TBH I will take anything serviceable (i.e. I won't get stopped using) as I will only use it if one of the 4 is knackered and only until the knackered one is replaced/fixed.

sorry to hear that Craig, it also looks like they put the letters back on your rear number plate

Might be worth having a word with Brendan/Leeds, he's sure to have a steel knocking around for a good price Thumbs Up

if you go down the alloy wheel route .. put a nice big motorcycle chain on the wheel and a wheel cover.

You can also get metal alloy wheel cover locks for 4x4's but every one I've ever seen has been polished stainless steel and not black which I don't like. But in other words with one of these and a rigid wheel cover such as mine it's not half as easy to even get at the nuts because the whole thing is locked. Just a shame I've only ever seen SS. Maybe an idea for sponsors to take up maybe? Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Such a pain...!..sorry to here about this yet again.
It happened to me not so long back.
The LR locking nuts are easily overcome..and there are only a few key combinations.
The last 3 Defenders I have had ranging form 1997 to 2010 all had the same key!!

My 300Tdi has a huge eye bolt through the back door to allow me to tether the wheel with a lock and chain.

My Puma is secured with a chain also..( The wheel carrier design allows this)

For what its worth to anyone out there...check the tightness of the nuts. When I got my Puma they were barely done up!..At least if you make them well tight it makes it harder. Then a good chain is vital.

If Im leaving one of mine anywhere for a length of time ( over a week or so) I take the wheel off.
The wide boys are always watching our Lannys

What about ditching the spare and using puncture seal in your tyres?

Obviously no use if your going off road and risking a rip/slice, but must be ok for general road use?

There was a thread on here about it.

If you are going to replace it I would say the cheapest way would be to buy a set of five new take off's keep one and sell the four on you will get almost the same amount of money for them if not more!!

That's the way I got the wheels for my trailer, buying 15 and selling 12 for more than I paid for the 15.

I recently brought a set of 5 boosts with delivery miles on from a chap in Central London for 385 and sold my old ones for 5k miles for 650!! I always check the guy has a truck so they are not nicked often the reason for sale is they buy a new truck and change the wheels/tyres, the old ones knock around for a couple of weeks and then they realise they take up a lot of space especially in London where space is a premium so they just want rid.

There was a full set of boosts went on Sunday for 410, Mrs S wouldn't have been impressed as I already have a spare set and a set of rims so I left them!!

Jason.

Most locking wheel nuts are simple to remove, all you need is a locking wheel nut removal socket, available from any good tool supplier Sad

Only locking nuts that work are those in two sections, so the outer section just spins [prevents nut remover from threading onto it to unscrew]

Yep, best idea is a cheap spare padlocked on and covered with a wheel cover - works for me Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.
