TD5 centrifugal drain pipe to sump LRJ100000 gasket leaking
Hi! Ive just replaced the water pump on my 110 TD5, I removed the centrifugal housing and pipe for better access and re-fitted with a new Oring and gasket for the drain to sump.

I've noticed its leaking at the drain to sump and this made me wonder wether the gasket is sided? if not I'll just nip it up.

Gasket isn't sided if I remember right I've seen a few that have worked loose 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

No the metal gaskets are not sided but they are easily deformed and then leak. I once made the mistake of not ordering this gasket when removing the sump. In the emergency of getting it all back together again I opted for a little smear of gasket sealer on each side of the old metal gasket. Refitted and torqued up. All good. It hasn't leaked in 5 years or so.

But when it comes to those metal pressed gaskets you should torque up each of the bolts a little at a time. Do not torque down one then the other as this will deform the metal gasket.

As an interim fix use a little gasket sealer as it will stop the drip until you have a new gasket. Thumbs Up

Thanks for the advice, I reseated it and it seems okay but doubt it will last.

It is a quick job to pop it off again and smear some sealer on it. If you have bought a new gasket (suspect you have) then you can go belts and braces and add a smear of sealer to the new gasket before fitting. Thumbs Up
