Anti Theft Bonnet Hinges - Group Buy!
Just fitted these from a German supplier, Offroad-Tec:

The hinges are stainless and available powdercoated (high quality) in any RAL colour.
The only bit potentially removable from above is the 9cm hinge pin. However, it's really tight and can be replaced by a security bolt or have the hex recess filled (I'm using a dab of polyurethane glue). I'll also replace the nyloc nuts with shear nuts on the inside Thumbs Up

The guy that runs it (Marcus) is very amenable and has offered the following discounts (including painting):
10 pairs for £62 each
20 pairs at £58 each
30 pairs at £54 each

All sent to one address (me I guess) so there's DE to UK postage on top (about £7 tracked)

He also says he is getting an add-on to fit a Hi-Lift in a few weeks.

Anyone for a group buy?

Matt

From Welshgas

" Maybe I'm missing something, but you still have the Bulkhead section of the hinge as an open section, so what is stopping the bonnet being opened upto over 90 degrees and lifted out of this section? "

From ZeDefender...

In the original setup, the hinge bushing has a cut-out into which the bonnet hinge slides and that moves freely within the "curl" on the bulkhead. There is no pin - lifting the bonnet to the point at which the slot faces upwards and aligns with the open section of the "curl" allows it to slide out of the bushing slot, as it is not fixed at the sides. Note - even this bushing cannot be lifted from the "curl"

With the new system, the black nylon bulkhead bushes are in two halves, one going into the "curl" from each side (a tight fit). They will only come out again sideways...which can't happen because the hinge arms are in the way. The bonnet hinge is pinned through these so the hinge/bushes can't move up or out.

If we can get it down to 30 pairs I'm in. Got to be worth it to stop the worry of your bonnet being nicked and the expense of a replacement Shocked Much cheaper than the usual 80 euro price Very Happy "and they can be powdercoated in any RAL colour for 5 Euros"

The prices are for a pair Wink
... and as Zag has reminded us, to steal a bonnet with normal hinges you need only lift it up and off Shocked
These hinges stop that and make it a real PITA for the scum...

Getting there...

Sorry, only RAL colours lrmaniac (something to do with powdercoating machines?) but that's pretty extensive - I have a chart and RAL6000 looks close to Keswick:

Probably not close enough though... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
