Depends what you read into it though - to me it could be that they are saying the current Defender will continue to be built in small numbers for the utility / farming market (maybe in India as has previously been suggested) and the DC100 will become the new 'base level / utility' Landrover that they need to sell into the USA and in bigger volumes in Europe.

Quote:
The production version of the DC100 would fit perfectly in Land Rover’s model line-up, probably priced below the Freelander. It will be key to generating volumes for the brand in emerging markets like India, China and Brazil, where it already has strong presence, but its vehicles are priced at a premium beyond the reach of many aspirational customers. By Indian pricing standards, a vehicle sporting a Land Rover badge and a price tag of Rs 20 lakhs, with good off-road credentials and enough manoeuvrability for city use would be almost perfect.

If it is a good vehicle and less than a Freelander than it will replace Defender sales over here. John

Agreed, there is an article in LRM saying "The DC100 was originally conceived as a pure design concept to preview how the Defender could evolve, but reaction to it in its present state has been so positive that Land Rover is even considering using the DC100's looks for a new entry-level road-going model - probably based on the Range Rover Evoque platform. It is thought a tougher utility version, based upon a ladder frame chassis similar to the current Defenders, could follow"

I am not sure I particulary like (or even understand!) the idea of a look-a-likey "Defender"........

Anyone else notice in the original article it was referred to as 'Defender Concept' but in the link above 'Discovery Concept?' Suspect it's a 'typo' but a bad one nevertheless...

That has to be the worst article. If it ain't broke don't fix it??? Continually improving defender because there's so much difference between a 200tdi and a 2.2 puma.

12 bhp
Better heater
Disk brakes all round
An extra gear

What's the difference between a disco 200tdi and a disco4, think the list would be rather long.
