Well, changed the Hazard switch bulb today so now I have an illuminated switch. Took 10 minutes in total.
Ericvv, you stated that when the Hazards are on you get the 2 green indicator arrows. I get that + a red warning triangle on the dash. Do you get that also? Thumbs Up LANDYWATCH

Mine used to light up until the dealers took the dash out to repair corrosion around the windscreen. Now it doesn't light up. And my right hand indicators sometimes stay on, even when everything is switched off. And the heater controls don't work correctly.

Correct, same here. The only thing that does not happen is the red light in the distress command button flashing when in the on position. Which is different than most other cars.... But that is what makes it a Defender, yes? Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Mine works exactly as it should:

Switch only illuminates with lights on; when activated both indicator warning lamps flash in the display panel, along with the triangular hazard warning lamp in the display panel - the switch itself stays constantly lit. AND the trailer direction indicator warning lamp flashes, which it doesn’t do if a trailer bulb has blown.

Too true, Paul. Just received my switch £1.71 in total. Bulbs added to my spares collection. Told my local Indy - he is ordering some. Whistle LANDYWATCH

Mr James, were you able to take that switch out of the dash without removing the dash, so without accessing it via the rear? How does that work? I believe my dealer had to release the center dash to get to the back of the switch when replacing the bulb.

You do not have to remove the dash, just the radio so that you can put your hand in and up behind the switch and push and wiggle it forward. You do not even have to disconnect the radio to get access. Takes less than 5 minutes if you have the correct tool to remove the radio. I have a 3rd party radio with its own fixing cage and I was still able to do it without removing the cage. If you still have an original LR radio then it is even easier as there is no fixing cage, well there wasn't on my 2010 MY XS. Thumbs Up LANDYWATCH

Very easy. I removed the radio with some cheap release keys off ebay that cost £1.99; (left it connected) then pushed the switch out from the rear. easy peasy.
