Swing away Wheel Carrier
Got some nice pics from an Auzzie bloke (thanks Murray) and tried to make my own to save some money.
It's not yet complete but one more day and I should be there.
Not the best of jobs by a long ways but let's see if it holds up on the bumps (especially the welding.)

I too are in the process of making a swing away wheel carrier Thumbs Up it is fully chassis mounted and will fit hard tops and pickups with no modifications to the tailgate as some others require Shocked
The first one should be finished soon and after testing will be making up a batch Thumbs Up

The main weight on all these devices are attached just to the frame. Is there any problem on the Mantec (or so) type of wheel carrier attached to chassis and body? Puma 110" SW

The less weight on the body the better.

However, compared with the standard mount, the Mantec one does a great job of taking the weight onto the crossmember and removing potential for damage. In fact, i think it's holding my rear door in place as well Smile

These home-spun ones look the business. They look pretty heavy, though. dgardel - that's some pretty nifty fabrication. I love the crossmember shaped bracket at the bottom.

I guess if you have the skill, time and patience then it is satisfying to build your own. For the rest of us, the Mantec does a good job. Thumbs Up One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
