Anyone happen to know the mm diameter of the hose on a 2.4? I have a plan (but I'm stuck in the UK at the moment with a Nissan Juke - yeuchh)
Cheers

Mines similar! It won't pull off or wiggle about, will keep an eye on it though as they probably slide off gradually... The hose itself doesn't seem to have the right angle on it Rolling Eyes I bet everyone else's is the same because of this?

Looks like different hoses as well Chris, I could wiggle mine and if I could get a good enough grip on mine I would have been able to pull it clean off. The whistle stopped as well as soon as I tightened it.

This has been a problem with the transit engine in both 2.2 and 2.4 guise since it first appeared! Fords answer is a incorrectly tightened hose clip! Neutral One Life Live It, There Isn't Anything To Beat It, Even The Boss Agrees.

Make a small black marker line with it in the fitted position and then you can monitor any slippage as it happens. OHP fineliner best and then it makes eh job of keeping an eye on it easier. Just a bit of advice as had this happen on new BMW bikes with their hoses popping off. With the black engined bikes it was much harder to monitor but a little silver marker line made things easier to keep an eye on. Also good when taking it back to the dealers as they have a reference point to look at and hence no arguments when you say it is moving. Whistle Thumbs Up

Just ordered a stainless Mikalor clamp Thumbs Up
I'll fit it before the 110 goes for it's first service at the end of this month to see if I can stop the whistling myself (and avoid unnecessary LR "open-heart surgery".

MK said the hose outer diameter is about 54 mm (I can't measure mine as we're in different countries for the next few days), so I got one for 51-55 mm and one for 55-59 mm (just to be on the safe side). They're about 3 quid each, which seems pretty reasonable for peace of mind Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

That's the clamps I used on my much moded Subaru. I couldn't remember the name of them. I am sure they will solve your problems.

Wales 2012 Defender 90 Other SW Keswick Green
Had a 2.2 for two days and same story - popped of hose /w only 1.000 miles on it. The technician on the phone told me to stuck it on and drive further, as there is no common fix for that. It seems to be a bit different from the similar 2.4 trouble, which was definitely a built problem. They told me there is some angle different on the 2.2 and they blow the hose on almost every one after a short while. When I got back to my dealer, he said no worry, it'll take two more weeks for the new clamps to be available in greater numbers and they are going to replace them on all 2.2 coming in. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Coming from Belgium, I just also have the same problem with my new Defender (21/03/2012)...
Only 1300 km and already 2 mains problem:
- oil leak between gearbox and transfercase;
- Turbo nose...
A chance to have LR assistance !

I'm very dissapointed because my old TD5 (8 years, 140.000 km) had never problems (excepted rust).
But, this good machine is now sold and the new owner don't want to resell it...

Other problem for me: rust on the engine of new Puma 2.2... (Normal for LR).
My old TD5's engine have a better look !

Now just watch the letterbox for a "special offer" from LR for a shiny new Evoque or Disco!
That's what happened to me with my Audi - as soon as it broke (design fault), the Service Dept obviously told Marketing and then they kept bugging me to "upgrade" Evil or Very Mad

Sorry - having a sh*t morning and need to rant... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
