that was an amazing peace of video. am i correct in thinking that the antistall is also know as idle jack? Cheers

No, two different systems. the idle jack is there to help, stop or reduce the engine braking in low range. The Puma has lots of Torque (too much) when you need to use engine braking to descend, the standard engine would hold the wheel rotation back and the vehicle would slide. The simple fix was to increase the revs when the clutch is lifted in 1st low, This now allows the wheels to turn at the same rate as the vehicle descends. Not an exact science but LR decided that an idle jack is better than no idle jack. This is what happens when an engine from a parts bin is adapted for use in a vehicle that it was not designed to be installed in. Thanks Ford ![]() ![]() |

Not really - more like when the design and redesign is cost limited or time limited...its not beyond the capability to change that problem...the cost will have stopped it. Mike |
