Thanks again Paul.

Just placed orders and paid for 2 of each of the connector's (from ebay) and switches (from Brit-car).

Hope they are correct as I am a loooong way from the UK to return them Smile

Cant wait to get them.

Some follow on questions for the experts who have already installed lights etc The basic concepts and wiring diagram is spot on however

Whilst I'm waiting on the switches etc coming for the roof lights i opened up the "official" Loom that LR supply - with a view of putting this in place for the bumper lights - -

Can anyone point me to any pics - of where the best place is to take the cable through the bulhead - Given that the cable is all cut to size etc There is clearly a preferred route - Also where is best to mount the relay

I will have additional cables for roof lights also so want to get this right first time

Next point -

I will have 3 relays - 1 for front spots and 2 for roof spots - Is there an easy way to link these so one triggers the others etc - or do all 3 have to have seperate power feeds etc - Any diagrams here would help -

For the roof lights - I am likely to put LED's up in due course but initially I will have Std lights with 55watt bulbs - so my cable etc will be rated for these - -

Can I get away with running just 3 suitably rated cabled to the rack -

1 common earth - which splits 4 ways at the lights
1 common power outside spots and again split 2 ways
1 common power inside spots split 2 ways

I need to get the snorkel fitted and plan to route the cables down outside of snorkel and into engine bay from there - I will have a 3 way plug here for that the rack can be removed with lights on etc if required.

If there is a better way - please let me know -

I am by no means an expert and can only answer your 2nd question. I ran the roof spot light cables down the outside of the snorkel and against the firewall (the gap between the fire wall and bonnet is big enough for the cables to run through).
I have connected the roof spots as below. I just used a decent gauge/thickness wire and also used the same thickness for the ground/earth.

1 common earth - which splits 4 ways at the lights
1 common power outside spots and again split 2 ways
1 common power inside spots split 2 ways

2x relays and 2x switches. I now have 3 spot light switches. 2 for the roof and 1 for the 2 bull bar spots.

My set up also means that the roof spots are all shinning in different directions because I do anti poaching patrols in the bush so need to be able to turn on and shine the lights in different directions.

This took me a long time to do as I soldered and then put heat shrink on every connection and then also put a sleeve over all the wiring.

Hope this helps a little.

Can anyone tell me if those Ancillary 2 switches mechanically latch on/off of if they are a push/pulse type? I'm assuming the former. Also do the switch caps come off and can be changed without replacing the whole switch assembly?

I am using a latching rear window demist switch to act as my master switch for my roof lights and the Ancillary 2 would look better.

And finally - can you get an Ancillary 3 switch/cap?

Yes, they mechanically latch.

Yes, the switch caps can be removed and replaced, or fitted to another switch.

No, there isn't an Anciliary 3 switch cap.


However, if you're good with a Dremel, you can engrave whatever symbol you like onto a blank switch cap.

The switch caps are moulded in white translucent plastic and then sprayed Ash Grey (or Black) with the symbol masked out, so that it lights-up when backlit.

Iam looking forsome kind of four pin low profile (so will fit behind the interier trim about a inch gap). As you can see from the photos I posted earlier the cable ducting containing the wires passes through the body but i want to replace this with a plug and when not being use (when the roof rack is off) I want to unplug and fit a blanking plug over the female end that is on the body, if that makes sense.

Excellent connectors! I have used these as an upgrade for the crappy OEM connectors for both Warn and Superwinch electric winch controllers for years.
