Group Buy - STC53208 - Aux Lighting Harness...
Is there an opportunity for one of the site sponsors to help us all (well a few of us!) and supply a wiring harness (Equivalent to STC53208) at a much improved price over the £120+ the can be found for...?

Here's a plan...

Right is the Switch and Main beam wire

Yes the kit is expensive but it is VERY well made and all the hassle parts are taken out or the job (getting the right lenghts, tidying them up and having everything to fit). I am happy with my purchase.... Might be an idea to contact XJ Electronics and see if they will sell you Part 12284 direct. That is the full wiring kit minus the switch Thumbs Up

Good luck with your kits,
Glyn Sheep

One of the businesses (GREENI, BRENDAN?) contacts XJ Electronics as a trader, and buys 50 (or whatever) Part 12284... Also the original LR switch, and supply the equivalent of STC53208 at a fraction of the cost???

My dealer said it also fitted the PUMA Confused (the switch looks OK for Puma) ...He even wrote-down the part number on a piece of paper...

Take it a step further...sell the LightForce (or similar) spots, with the improved-price harness kit as a good package deal...they would fly off the shelves IMHO... Thumbs Up

I was going to buy some spots off a forum member a few days ago...but the harness kit cost is almost as much as the spots!!! (I was hoping he had also taken the harness of his car, and selling the spots and harness together). Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

The kit shown above is for the late Td5 Defender.

I ordered from LR with part number: STC53208.

It came as 2 parts in the box. 1 part was the switch. The other was all the wiring which is manufactured and sealed by XJ Electronics.

Hope this helps,

£25 sounds too cheap......plus, a lack of knowledge of the vehicle

land rover spot & side light wiring loom

this wiring loom will fit all 90, 110, 130 and td5 defender landrovers with under seat batterys

Shocked Shocked so there are 90s, 110s, 130s..... AND TD5s (so what wheelbase are they?)....... I also wish I bought one of the Defender models that had a battery somewhere else other than under the seat Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I have just been on the official Land Rover Accessories site.

They list 2 kits, one for pre-2002, and one for post-2002:

Part Number: STC53208
Lamp wiring Kit
Auxiliary lamp wiring kit for Safari 5000 and Rally 1000 lamps.
Please Note
02MY onwards
VIN Range From 2A622424

and

Part Number: RTC9586AA
Lamp wiring kit.
Auxiliary lamp wiring kit for Safari 5000 and Rally 1000 lamps.
Please Note
For pre-02MY vehicles only.
VIN Range To 2A622421

So it would appear that later TD5 and PUMA share the same harness... Question Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

THe only problem with that is that it is completely illegal. Spot lights must be able to be switched off independently to the main beam and must have a visual indicator to show that they are on (Same as fog lights).

I would love to, but unfortunately here in Cyprus they don't have good quality parts, and if they did it would end up costing way more that the LR ones. I have to go to one of the electrical stores tomorrow- I will double check on what they have. I can't say I have really looked in detail.

I would have thought the actual harnesses will be very similar (if not the same) for all Defenders...... the main difference is for the switch on the dash. 2002 was when they changed the dash to have the centre console bit so they changed the switch at that point which is the same one they use in the current vehicle.
