Black or Silver Chequer plate on a Black Defender 90?
Anyone got any opinions on Black or Silver chequer plate for a Black Defender 90?

Also is the genuine LR stuff the best option?

Depends on the colour of your rig. I beleive LR original stuff is quite expensive. I went with allmakes and no problema Puma 110" SW

Surely its down to personal preference on the colour Confused
As for who`s you buy its a mine field Big Cry Land rovers is very good but expensive, Patriot have just started doing it and its equally as good but a lot less money Thumbs Up
I would steer clear of the ones that use rivets Big Cry it looks a dogs dinner when fitted , the best have countersunk stainless fittings

Hi Paul,

Both LR and Patriot use counter sunk and its the same plate with a nice rubber backing gasket.

You may all be surprised by this, but Paddock Ultimate Delux chequerplate is incredible. I would say the finish is easily as good as the LR genuine stuff and is 3mm thick with a satin powdercoat finish (either black or silver). Wonderfully made, with smooth chamfered edges, perfectly countersunk holes and a flawless finish. I was really amazed by this stuff and the price is excellent too. It also came with stacks of stainless steel posidrive screw top bolts with nyloc nuts. I had about 20 too many with mine.

The only thing I would say is that if you have ABS (td5), getting the nut on the one by the aerial is a bit of a pig!!!

Go for the Patriot but get them to anodise it, powder coating always comes off if you intend to use it to stand on.

Many of the silver finishes are powder coated now and this looks really bad when it flakes off.

Another vote for Silver on black.

As above get the anodized version as I too have had the powder coated silver ones flake off !

Thanks for all the posts guys!

Having seen a black defender xs90 today in a car park with Black Chequer plate wing tops and sliver sill and rear corners. I think I will go for black!

Have the say this car looked weird with two different colour cheque plate on it, so I wouldn't recommend that scheme;)
