I've just finished Dinitrollng mine ahead of winter. Hopefully got some everywhere it needs to be thanks to this thread. Only thing I haven't done is seal the windscreen. The screen rubber is cracked in a few places so thinking of getting it replaced and sealed.

What a thoroughly unpleasant task it was. How you do it for living, I don't know! 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

It's more than unpleasant at the moment. Dinitrol has been taken over by another company which has caused supply problems and they have changed the ingredient in the 3125 making it harder to work with, it is thicker, bubblier and gloopyer. (EDIT see below post re the new 3125HS and ML) Worse they have changed the propellant on the 4191 and it is unusable, really nasty to breath in, you will NEED an air fed mask. It also goes on thinner than the old stuff. The new Dinitrol company have really messed up with the aerosol form for the DIY market.

Bilt Hamber (Dynax) has always been regarded as one of the best products to use but has been a lot more expensive than Dinitrol. As Dinitrol is/was a similar product that is what most opted for. Today however I have my first delivery of Bilt Hamber that is equal in price to Dinitrol and I will be testing it soon Very Happy I am very excited about it and will be returning most of my Dinitrol stock.

There are many reviews about Bilt Hamber (Dynax) the technology has been around for a while. Info on it and tests are shown on their website...

That explains a lot. I can't recall the product numbers exactly. but. when I came to buy some additional tins, I could only find the high solids version of 3125 I think, which was claggy and horrible. The chassis wax changed texture too. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Great article thanks!
Thanks for sharing the information. I have been looking for someone in Cheshire who could do this sort of thing, but there seems to mixed reviews of companies offering the service.

Exactly right. Rejel and their chemist said I need an air fed mask. If it ever came up legally under Health and Safety it would probably suggest an air fed mask. For the one off DIY guy it would just be a really nasty smell, make you feel ill, stink the whole street out and that would be it. The paper mask for sale for the old stuff was inadequate but for a one off DIY job it maybe wouldn,t matter. It,s probably up to the customer to get the correct breathing equipment for the job... There are hazard warnings on the can!

Going back to thick 3125HS I have been now given ML for the cavities and it is the opposite of gloopy really runny! The new company seem to be playing around with the ingredient quite a lot at the moment Rolling Eyes

This from Rejel...

"Morning Chris

products to help with explaining the differences

The old 3125 no longer exists

The 3125HS is a much thicker product and does not “creep” as well

The MLspray is very thin and “creeps”.

Both contain rust inhibitors and both can be used as a pre-curser to 4941 although you will need less of the ML than 3125HS.

Both are designed for cavities yet the 3125HS could be used a very thin underbody coating but wouldn’t stand up as well as 4941.

Confused.com"

The products work OK BUT I am still waiting for my Bilt Hamber (Dynax) delivery!!

Hi everybody,
four years ago I've treated all the frame of my 110 using Waxoil and I'm quite pleased with it.
Now the rear crossmember is a little bit rusty, what you suggest to protect and repaint it?

Bomber ACF-50 when it is still in good condition does the job and attacks the rust coming from behind the porous chassis paint! Will let someone else answer paints, in the middle of a job, (no time but usual advise, rub back rust, acid convert, prime and top coat of your choice) BUT had to show this...

Dynax UB on the left. Dinitrol 4941 on the right. Both designed to go on the outside of the chassis. ALL my clients want a nice matt black tidy finish so I will be sticking with Dinitrol!

My weapons of choice are now

Dynax S50 for the cavities (very similar to Dinitrol 3125HS but seems to flow better)

Dinitrol 4941 as usual for the outside of the chassis to give a smart appearance.

Picked up my 90 at the weekend after being thoroughly Zag'd, have to echo the praise of all his other satisfied customers, great job! It's not until you get them back you realise every nook and cranny has been taken care of!
Now to find some muddy fields!!

Dinitrol 4941 Aerosol dries matt black or very dark brown as in my previous post, it is touch dry within half an hour. The Bilt Hamber Dynax UB is still tacky on the same cardboard pictured today three days later.. Not good, it will just pick up all the dirt!
