Certainly sounds like an output shaft failure as this is what happened to mine but make sure the hi-lo lever hasn’t slipped into neutral 1st.

If I remember correctly when fitting mine the screw holes in the replacement plinths just line up with the existing mounting holes in the bodywork.

I insure via a specialist broker and have never had any issues.
