The higher number (temperature) means the engine is burning fuel more efficiently AFAIK.
More fuel = more power until you get to about 750 degC when it all potentially starts melting tur ... |

I also have a one box, big(ish) bore exhaust and recently adjusted the tappets. These two things will help keep the temp in check.
Also, sounds so much better than it used to.  |

Drilled a hole in the EGR Blanking Plate, welded bung to plate, fitted to manifold, wired it up - worked first time. |

I've just done a good run down the A9 and 520ish was all I got.
Maybe I should try tuning it a bit more.... maybe get closer to the 700. |

It's not strictly necessary but you may prefer to use one.
