Microsoft Office
During my working years, had MS Office on my works desktop and laptop; now retired I'm without it, but find I occasionally have use for what it offers. However, I wouldn't use it enough to warrant the annual subscription that seems to be required.

So, I ask, is it still possible to get office (older versions would be fine) on a disc to load onto a lap top and if so, where from? Tried ebay, and although there's all sorts of office stuff available there, much seems to be dodgy copies or require a download. Downloads are no good for me, because I have such slow broadband. It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this.

It is still possible to buy a copy of office, but the cost is in the region of a few hundred pounds per product, and the option is buried deep on their website!

If it's only occasional, I'd recommend one of the free alternatives like openoffice or libreoffice, or even google docs, as it works quite nicely with office files these days.

OpenOffice is free and creates/opens compatible documents...

Only around 160MB so even on a slow connection it won't take too long to download... http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Pat what OS are you running? you can buy an old version of office, like office 2007 etc from ebay, I know office 2007 runs on windows 10, as I have ran it in the past, took it off due to no one using it now. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Thanks Folks.

My current laptop is running on Windows 10.

The above has given me guidance as to a way forward. It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this.

Slight word of caution on that, with windows 10, With that version of office it might be a little too old for windows 10, just let me know if it installs and runs ok, if not, I will get one of my back ups out of office 2007. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Perhaps, I shouldn't expect much from '03 then!? It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this.

Be aware older versions have security vulnerabilities.

Open office .. not sure how secure it is but better than sealing from Microsoft, whatever you may think of MS, they are a business and employ people and pay tax.
