Security - Door dead locks
Hi all this is my first post hope it’s useful to all. I have just fitted a set of Defender dead locks to all three of my doors. The kit came from a company called Locks4vans, I have no connection to them other than I bought these looks and they are great. Very comprehensive kit and instructions that make it super simple to fit, with the right tools and some DIY ability...

Tools needed:
Philips screw driver
Drill and metalbits
Cone drill (the stepped ones that drill bigger and bigger holes)
Hacksaw
Sealant gun and sealant in your choice of colour
River gun
Tape measure
Pencil
Patience!!!

Started with the rear door as this seemed the easiest first....

I have had this type of lock fitted on a transit works really well ,but on a late Defender could devalue it due cutting holes in the doors ,would be more suited to a overlander or older models ,remember to do some thing with your hinge bolts other wise you would of wasted your time.

Have sorted out the hinges as well, strangely cutting the holes in the doors makes them less desirable to those that like things they have not paid for... if you get my drift @steve_overland on Insta.

Am I missing something or could you just drill out the pop rivets on the rear? Rendering the lock useless Instagram @defender_ventures

If that is the case I would be more inclined to fit stainless bolts and nylock nuts. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

There are three fixings along the edge of the door too, so drilling out the outer ones wouldn't release it. Darren

Hello Steve_overland

Welcome and thanks for Posting...

I looked at these a while back...and I'd definitely take a closure look but it appears they wont fit a post 2002
Defender, which I don't understand fully, I thought the main door change was for the Puma at 2007, but maybe
the TD5's had this too Question

Their site starts off with this...

https://www.sussexinstallations.co.uk/prod...ender.html

If quality kit I'd have no issue fitting these, or seeing them fitted (well) to a Defender.

Maybe I'll give them a ring to make sure, as I just passed over these last time.

Thanks... Thumbs Up SKIP

They are great kits and they will advise on the phone im sure.

As for drilling out the rivets this wouldnt make a difference as the are fixed inside as well... @steve_overland on Insta.

I've got various bits of security on my 110 and i looked at these and wanted to fit them. Unfortunately i have Series half doors and the frames are not deep enough to fit these locks.

The all steel rear doors were introduced in 2002 and the steel side doors in 2005, still in the TD5 era. Darren
