I have just attempted to install one of these, mounted it to the cubby box successfully, and put a RCA wire into the back of the head unit, though been a total novice I have no idea where to connect the rest of the wires? there aren't that many so I'm hoping can't be that complicated, but I don't want to do anything wrong and possibly break something!

Any advice would be gratefully received.

BTW my defender is MY14 90HT XS

Do you have suitable radio fitted with the blue/white power wire and RCA lead connections on the back ?

Go on, fit a sub, you can do it, it's not that hard! Just a bit of thought and planning and you'll have it done. Thumbs Up
The wiring instructions are easy enough to follow. Plan your wiring route, mount the sub, and job done. Thumbs Up

right after a couple of month of use my opinion,

is this a worth while mod?

Answer yes,

But

I have however put the standard speakers and tweeters back in the front as the previous Kenwood front speaker upgrade was just too tinny , so if I could go back in time the Active Sub would be the first ICE upgrade I would do.

Note of caution is that everything in the cubby now rattles in time to the music!!!

I think mounting the Sub unit nearer the rear of the car and connecting to the rear speaker wires might be a better idea than the front speaker wires and back of the cubby. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Found this thread out, went and brought 1 and fitted it today. What an upgrade!! Well worth it. Annoy paid £99 for it

Got mine as a Christmas present. Fitted it today and it's absolutely fantastic! Finished off my audio setup perfectly. The controller is very handy since I just have an amp and not a head unit. The most difficult part by far was marking out and drilling the holes to mount it to the cubby. I didn't use any of the fixings it came with - just used 6 longer bolts and washers. I also put mine upside-down for more convenient wire routing and since I have a bulkhead you can't see it's upside-down anyway.

As for wiring it up, my amp has an RCA out for a sub so very easy.

For £97 on Amazon it is definitely worth getting. Thumbs Up Matt.

no, just used the machine threaded holes that the brackets are supposed to attached to. 4, 1 at each corner and then used longer screws to go through the cubby.

Daft questions im sure but i need to know
To run the kenwood sub do you need an amp or is this built into the unit?

Depending on the above answers, is the sub just wired into the standard speaker wires or does it have a dedicated sub speaker conection on the sterio?

Last daft question sorry, has anyone fitted one of these on a metal cubby and did they have any issues???.
