England 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Santorini Black
2.4 tdci injector advice please
Had a brand new engine fitted to the 2011 model 110 USW back in January. Replaced the turbo with a new OEM one BUT "saved" a bit of money by having recon injectors fitted.

All O.K. and running well but unable to do pump learn or injector pilot learn with Nanocom or BAS RRC.

The injector codes went into the ECU no problem.

Replaced the VCV on advice from Pete at BAS, and the mechanic was able to perform the Pump Learn but not the Pilot Learn.

From new engine to "forced" pump learn was around 7.000 miles and its done around 10000 without the Pilot Learn.

I've decided to replace the recon injectors with new ones, (several posts on here suggest that recon injectors have learning problems)!

Land Rover dealer quoted genuine at around £400+VAT each or OEM at £230+VAT. there are others advertised as OEM at around £190+VAT.

The Defender is a keeper, does at least 15000 miles p.a. and is my daily driver.

The question is, based on your experiences, what injectors do you suggest I have fitted, and where can I get a reasonable deal?

Thanks.

Ouch 400 quid each ! Don't do it !
I have a 2011 2.4 and had to change the injectors 18 months ago primarily because the copper seals had worn (as they all do) causing overfuelling and 'ballooning' at the tips. Admittedly I was a bit lazy and did nothing about it for 10 months. I almost went down the reconditioned route but the cost saving against new was minimal.
Firstly they must be Denso. Period. Secondly, forget JLR or Ford for supply. Find a Transit parts specialist - there must be loads of them in the UK. I got mine from one here in Ireland and paid € 190 each which equates roughly to £ 165. Unfortunately I don't have the part number but if you ask for the ones for Mk 7 RWD Transit they're the same. And get 4 new washers, 4 clamp bolts and the little green o rings for the return pipes. When mine were fitted they pilot learned first time and have been fine since. Smile
Hope that helps

Try Frida at Turners? I’m not sure what price they are from them to the general public, but I think about £185? Always great to deal with and know their onions Thumbs Up

I'd use Brand new Denso Only - with page discount can do them for £155 + vat each including new seals.

Then £8.00 + vat for the 2x bolts needed.

I used recon denso as I was in a hurry and could get them that day, 4000 miles later and all fine.

Following this cloesly, as per another thread, I'm looking to make some mods and also upgrade the engine power. It's idling a little rough, could be hoses, could be a leak, could be injectors, blah blah blah, but wondering if after 60kms, if this wouldn't be worth doing anyway, if fettling with a remap, airbox, hoses, turbo, cooler etc? Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

LR only re-box branded parts for significant mark up and Denso is a good brand, so I would go for that.

Genuine does not in all instances mean to say better quality, take fuel tank breather hoses as an example. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️
