Steering noise at low speed or manoeuvring
My car has what can only be described as a grinding feeling and noise through the steering system when manoeuvring. I have been told it’s normal and there is a LR bulletin that describes it being caused by harmonics in the fluid system.

My mechanical sympathy is really struggling with this.

Anyone else got this or know more about it? Stu...

Could it be like a bubbling?? mine sounds like bubbles at high pressure and that is the high pressure oil circulating.

other grinding noise could be the tyre with the frame, you could see that marks on the frame Augusto

No I don’t think it’s bubbles nor hitting the chassis as it happens randomly through the cycle. Stu...

Mine has always made a weird humming noise at rest or when doing a slow manoeuvre whilst turning the steering to the left. It feels and sounds like something to do with the hydraulic system rather than mechanical. 1953 80"

If it's still under warranty take it into the dealers... My 90 did this.. Turns out some steering pipes needed different brackets to stop the pipe vibrating (which causes the noise your hearing)...

Hope this helps

Thanks Tim but it's not under warranty.

I have been told here is a bulletin on the subject but I don't seem to be able to find it. Stu...

I found a bulletin but it seems to be for V8 models and suggesting to change the pipe from box to reservoir.

I'm wondering if it could be a UJ on the column or one of the ball joints on the steering system so I think I am going to invest in the Terrafirma HD kit which includes greaseable ball joints. Stu...
