Having fitted replica steps, that only lasted a week, I bought LR original from LR. They are superb. The old ones are a bit rusty, one arm having fallen off when I took them off. The black pads are cushioned and gripy. They came with completely new fittings and went on in a few minutes. BTW they are powder coated inside and out.

Hi Merlin, why did the non-original ones only last a week? Now gone - 2012 2.2 110 DC XS

I went down an un-made public road and went into a rut which hit the RH step (which didn't show any damage or even a scratch) and caused it to break the both welds between the tube and the fittings. As a result the step was angled up and back. The LR ones are much, much better made and rather sturdy. I'm hoping for another 10 years service!

My LR ones were looking rough after 6 years, so I started a renovation job and gave up after struggling to remove the powder coat. At the moment I’m enjoying the no side step look, but the wife complains every time we go out in the Defender.

I think you would be lucky to get 10 years out of genuine LR ones, but 6 years on mine is better than a week for your after market ones.

I hope you got a refund. Now gone - 2012 2.2 110 DC XS

I'm told that sidestepsuk are the main supplier to Britpart. Just so you know.
