Had another play today, got a lovely hot, almost invisible blue flame on both burners, I think maybe I turned the lighting lever down too soon after lighting, no soot at all this time!

you can overfuel them and they will burn yellow.

stove wont need bedding in!! you will just work out the most efficient way of using it with experience. low flame to start to get some heat in the top pipe. lots of pressure! Cheers

Thanks James, I’ll bear that in mind, perhaps I did overfuel it? The instructions say give the fuel knob two full turns when lighting, this gives quite a large flame, maybe this is too much?

Btw, anyone know what the “lighting lever” does? I assume it overfuels to get the generator pipe hot? 2010 Defender 110 Station Wagon, Santorini Black.

Good question - I open mine to start with (it seems to make the flame yellow), per the instructions, bu never thought what it does!

Btw - it’s worth using it periodically. I say this as I’ve had to replace the burner tube on mine once and have just had the pump neoprene let me down, both due to not using for a year. I’ve sorted the neoprene by adding a rubber flange from my plumbing spares but will buy a replacement kit when I’m back from our impending trip. The neoprene bit seals the pump tube when you pump - mine had gone brittle, presumably due to lack of use. It’s recommended to lubricate the tube with olive oil (its easy to open - turn the black plastic bit attaching the pump tube to the side of the fuel tank). Apparently that stops the neoprene cup at the end from drying out and helps both seal and lubrication.

Otherwise great piece of kit - add the Coleman Northstar lantern and you can use the same fuel and funnel for both. The lantern is like a car headlamp!

Coleman dual fuel stove by far the best, also run it on Aspen 4 fuel which is much cleaner and best ive had for lighting. only trouble is you cant get new Coleman's anymore for some reason 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8
