Sorry, needs to be added. Have a look at the user manual, it's pretty much all in there for the L316.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the IIDTool as a generic fault code reader on other cars?

what should happen when I press :Renew security 10AS & PCM ?
Then my IIDtool freezes, and disconnects from the car an isn't able to connect again until have disconnected the cars battery..

I haven't updated the tool for a while, is there a firmware history available somewhere online? I'm on IIDTool Pro V3.0 B3962

Hi Lorryman
My Defender keeps cutting out when coming to a stop, junction, island etc. Nothing coming up on the dash as respects warming lights. Simply turn off and then starts no problem and accelerates normally and will then cruise for hours, so not a fuel problem. Its a pain when in traffic as the revs just die off won't pick up when pressing the accelerator but as soon as you turn off the key it starts & everything ok until I push in the clutch and brake, then the revs drop & it cuts out.

There are a number of blogs from you concerning cutting out, would really welcome a idiots guide to sorting this please, that I can then pass on to the mechanic.

PS I have changed the fuel filters and the pumps OK

Regards
Graham

So I received my tool yesterday and my thoughts so far.......with the firmware that was loaded on it, I could execute the read CCF function ok, since updating to the latest firmware, I now get an error every time of 'one or more ccf values were not received from the tool. Quitting'

Also I have had a few instances of it locking up in the iPad app, and the tool then not able to be accessed again, even unplugging the tool, ignition off, and terminating the app on the iPad will not allow access to the tool, the only way of bringing it back to life seems to be refreshing it with the same firmware version on my Mac , not ideal if you are remote and don't have a laptop.

Also running the faults in basic mode comes up as clear, but in the advanced mode with other options selected I get 4 faults, with the engine not started, are they faults or can they be ignored?

P1103-00 (40) Mass air flow sensor in range but higher than expected

Firmware is 3.0.0.0 2.4.8.1

It seemed more stable before I updated it, but I did play with it for less time with the old firmware, so maybe it wasn't.

Am I doing anything wrong I wonder?

What does the Learn 10AS security ID do, I assume refresh the 10 AS?

EDIT............

Spotted another one.....

Also the auto activation did not work, I forgot to say, I tried it numerous times including after I had verified the account via email, the app just immediately crashed out every time I hit activate after filling in the required info, I had to use the manual activation with a code via the website..... 2008 TDCi 2.4 XS CSW

Hi Guys, having real trouble with this tool, noticed a new firmware version this morning B2624 so I loaded it onto the tool, the tool would then read the CCF data again rather than error on the previous firmware, so I then went to switch off passive immobiliser, it then asked me to turn ignition on/off etc and said success, I reread the values in the tool, and it still said passive immobiliser setting was set to default on, and more of an issue, the truck now will not start, it turns over/fires then dies and the immobiliser light flashes slowly. It came up with a message saying module is write only and something about default settings will be applied, are you sure? So not really sure what that means, default settings implies you can't change anything, but its changed something as the truck is now broken. But all values still show default.

The key fob now will not disable the slow flashing immobiliser light by pressing the unlock button, I have to lock and set the immobiliser using the fob, then unlock using the fob and the light goes out, but if I try and start the vehicle, the slow flashing comes back on.

I now see 2 errors in the faults diagnostic

Is anyone else using this tool with a 2008 Puma with success? So far its been not a good experience for me.

I would like to get the truck working again.......

As the nancom does not allow acces to the my2015 alarm module ........can anybody confirm if the gap tool does allow you to access the alarm and has the ability to change functions!........the folks at nancom say they are working on a work around but they have had nearly five years so i am losing faith to be honest.

Thread revival here.
Was there a conclusion with the issues that Johnnyd was having with disabling the PI on his Defender using the GAP IID? I know that he tried to do this with the Nanocom and achieved more success than with the GAP.
I am trying to do the same thing and favour the GAP tool, but don’t want the hassle that johnnyd seemed to go through.
I will be buying one of them, but have yet to make up my mind.
