is my clutch kaput?
Noticed on Friday that my gearchange seemed "notchy" and occasional strange "chewbacca" noises when changing gear, but everything seemed to pull okay. Coming home today and situation definitely has got worse. I found things were alright if I double-de-clutched, gear change worse going down gears than up. When in sixth all okay until about 55mph, if I push pedal harder after that it pulls okay but makes a strange noise. When I got home I could not engage reverse gear to park up, gt it into reverse and bite point was right at bottom (ir pedal fully down and truck still moving) and making a weird noise. Clutch fluid level is fine. The truck has done just shy of 80K miles on original clutch.

Any ideas? 2011 110 USW

If my Landy ever made a noise like Chewbacca, I will jump out and run.

But seriously that is the weirdest explanation I've ever heard.

Could well be the springs in the clutch which has gone kaput.

LR has done an uprated slave cylinder from VIN FA459934. If yours is pre that you might need an adaptor if you replace slave cylinder.

Have a look here . We send them all over the world, last week it was Italy and Zambia.

Yep, sounds like your clutch plate springs are beginning to fall out of the plate.
My previous 110 had the same symptoms you are describing.

It is at the garage now so I'm awaiting the call once they know whats up with it. I guess at seven years and just shy of 80,000 miles I can't complain too much as this is the only time anything has actually gone wrong with it! 2011 110 USW

" ... as this is the only time anything has actually gone wrong with it!"

Bl00dy hell, that's a first. Laughing

I had a Vauxhall Astra once that did 247,000 miles without a hiccup. When I came to change it I ended up taking it to the scrap yard as it was worth more there than selling in the local paper / eBay. Rolling Eyes

Hope you get it sorted and it ends up being resolved at a reasonable cost.
