1992 Defender 110 200 Tdi ST Alpine White
Rear springs for 110 200tdi
Hi - I am doing a bit of a suspension refresh on my 1992 110 200tdi Hardtop (that's now a ragtop).

I have so far decided on original spec springs at the front (NRC8044 & 45) and I have already selected Bilstein shocks all round.

What I was also thinking is the standard rears springs are NRC6904 and NRC 6389 - reading about these they are "HD" as standard verses the front - so have a spring rate of 330lbs (as opposed to 155/215 on the front).

Now my 110 is only ever lightly loaded and now has no rear weight and the roof is gone and I find the ride ever so slighty 'crashey' from the rear.

My thinking is that the spring rbk101111 which I think are those fitted to later 110's might be a fit as they are progressive 270 > 420lb. So in principle they'll be slightly more compliant and give me the better ride.

So my questions Smile

Will the rbk101111 spring fit on my early 110?
Anybody done this before?

Cheers

Jim

Simple answer is yes. As far as I am aware all 110 rear springs are interchangeable from 1983 through to 2018. When I rebuilt my 1983 110 6 years back I fitted new take-off springs from what would have been a 2012 model. They were the progressive wound Purple/Brown ones known as the HD spring. The Yellow/Green/Yellow springs fitted to the Utility 110 are supposedly a little bit softer, though still progressive, so may be batter in your case.

Edit, google suggests that the rbk101111 springs are the purple/browns I have on mine

rbk101111 will fit but they'll be harsh. I have them on my mostly unloaded SW and they're too uncomfortable. I'll likely go to the green/green/white at some point. When you have 800kg of sand in the back though they're beautiful Very Happy
