Whole wiper upgrade... Bad Obsession
I'm not sure if any of you are aware of Project Binky, but, it's a series following the build of a Mini being converted to run a Celica GT-4 drivetrain.

It's got some great humour and some fantastic tips on how to do loads of stuff in the garage that can be applied to any project. Even Ed China comes along and sweeps up or makes tea for them.

Anyway, the latest one has them upgrading the wiper mechanism, which most Land Rovers have.

Great series, one of my favourites!

An upgrade along the same lines has been on my "to do" list for a very long time but is yet another thing I simply haven't got around to yet. It wouldn't be very difficult. I think that the Binky team could have save some effort if they'd raided the Defender parts bin for spline adaptors and wiper arms.

I did like the comment that someone left on Episode 16 though "My second daughter was born the same time you guys started Project Binky. She is starting school next year but were still waiting for you to finish this bloody thing" Rolling with laughter

Its the same set up. If you look at mini spindles, you can see where the threaded part used on the defender was cut off.

I noticed it was uploaded on surfing youtube last night - Youtube figures indicated that it'd been up for about 3 hours by that time & already had 38k views!

I so, so so wish someone would come up with a proper linkage system as in that mini. I watched the episode and almost started buying 205 parts off the internet... OH well.

That's a lot of thought and engineering skill going into something as mundane as wipers. Impressive. I'm off to go and watch the previous 16 episodes now Thumbs Up 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone
2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW
