Long lasting clutch?
I have an ex power company 02 TD5 Defender with 180k miles on the clock, I Took the gearbox tunnel cover off the other day to free off the difflock linkage, it looked like it had never been off before, could this mean it is still on it’s Original clutch?
No issues with the clutch so far, it all works ok, it just seemed a lot of miles for the original setup.

No reason a sensibly driven vehicle shouldn't be on the original clutch at that mileage. My mate has just changed the original clutch on his 51 plate freelander with 370k miles (full LRSH before he bought it which confirmed it was on the original)

My 90 had a new clutch when I had an upgraded gear and transfer box, not because it needed it but because it was apart. The old clutch had very little wear at 109k miles Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Hit and miss really. TD5 clutches often tend to fail between 70 - 100k

If it works then happy days! Instagram @defender_ventures

I just had my original clutch replaced on my 2.4 at 84k miles, it hadn’t gone, I could feel it slipping more and more and got it replaces when it went in for its 8 year serivce Russell

Just changed my 02 Td5 clutch at 166k.
The clutch was ok but had to change the dual mass flywheel so made sense to change the clutch as well. Defender Td5 Commercial 2002
