Lock / ignition
I have an 07 puma XS with central locking.
I have two door/ignition keys and neither seem to work consistently.
One cannot lock the drivers door but is otherwise ok.
The other is sticky to get in but will lock and sometimes struggle to unlock the drivers door. It’s also sometimes a bit sticky in the ignition.

The fact that they’re operating differently suggests key rather than barrel is worn - but I’m not sure. The rear door lock is fine with both keys indicating it could be the drivers door barrel that is worn. Or both.

Can you get replacement keys in the first instance and/or matching barrels and keys? I would prefer to not change the ignition barrel and would prefer to have one key for ignition and doors. How do you get key number or reference if so?

Thanks

A main agent should have all the details on their data base of your key numbers just pop in and ask them to look up the key numbers for you. Replacements though cost an arm and a leg For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

My Ignition Lock is being replaced today under warranty, similar symptoms, sometimes I would spend 5 minutes trying to get it to turn, most frustrating for the drivers behind me in the Fuel queue.
Being replace with an assembly using the same lock codes hopefully or its back for hem to replace all of the locks so that I only need the one key. NormanD WE191

Try a bit of spray grease in the locks. (not the white stuff)

Are they original keys? or has someone had some copies made?

Thanks all

They are both original keys.

I will get some spray grease as you suggest and give that a try.

Changing barrels looks a bit more of a faf on mine - there is no screw that can simply be taken out as far as I can see.
Is it straightforward?

I can thoroughly recommend graphite powder. I had a sticky lock barrel on my old 90 and it transformed it. Because it's a dry lubricant, it doesn't attract dirt either.

for graphite powder you can also get a pencil and shave off some of the lead with a knife.

But some bottles come mixed with alcohol, so you can apply it more easily, the alcohol evaporates and leaves the graphite behind.

That’s great thanks - maybe cleaner than the spray on grease
Cheers

Agree with lra, bought mine from Amazon, it transformed my ignition lock. Time is precious, waste it wisely...

Can't remember where I bought mine but the bottle is as the picture. It works as a puffer and the fine nozzle makes it very easy to apply. I was so impressed that I went round and did all of the house door locks, too. Darren
