Quiet rear speakers?
My defender has an aftermarket alpine head unit with all the stock speakers.

The rear speakers are almost silent even with the fade right to the rear.

I recently replaced them with aftermarket Focal PC100 speakers and they are still very very quiet.

Should I run new cables to the rear or is this a known problem with a fix? assume the stock wiring must be crap or something as an aftermarket head unit with decent power and aftermarket speakers should surely achieve normal volumes?

Thanks for any advice...

Mine has got a factory fitted Alpine head and works fine at rear.
Not aware of this being a problem inherent with the wiring.
Have you checked connections at rear of your head unit.

If there is sound coming out of them then its a problem with the head unit. Ray

that's what I feared.

Adding a sub next week and changing front speakers so will examine the wiring first, otherwise may have to change the head unit which is a bit annoying as it a decent double din alpine full screen that came with the car.

Had a similar problem when my Alpine head unit died and I swapped to a Pioneer head unit.

Still haven’t solved the problem, apart from using my sons mega boom Rolling with laughter

I have the same issue with focal speakers in the rear. Can hear a little bit of sound so know the wires are connected but very quiet.

Mine is powered by a single DIN pioneer head unit.

A bit of a random one. But how are you playing the music? I had a aux cable from my phone which was faulty and caused mine. It wasn't till I put a CD in it which I hadn't done in months and all speakers worked fine I realised 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)
