I was at Vic Falls a couple of years ago after coming up from Cape Town. There were some of these big trucks there that are used for overlanding with groups. One of them was painted up for London to Cape Town trips. I got chatting with the drivers and they reckoned all the route was safe as long as you stuck as near to the coast as possible when coming down through the dodgy countries after Mauritania.

Might be worth asking them for advice - https://www.oasisoverland.co.uk/trips/afri...frica.html

Edit to add - there is a map of the route on their website

Thanks I actually spoke to Oasis overland already, they were very helpful. I was hoping I might be able to tag along with them in my 130 but they weren't up for that! They did say if I sign up to Horizons Unlimited I would probably be able to find others planning the trip. @tab.travels on instagram

There’s a very nice chap and his wife that run motorcycle tours called Globetrotters. They would be my first phone call.
His name is mr sanders if my memory is correct.

I am actually planning the same trip with a departure date of October 2019.

I will be watching what goes on here.

Drop me a PM and I will send some details of the planning material I have picked up so far.
