Replace both the plug and socket with male and female Hella or DIN connectors. They have a much more definite connection. Darren

I had exactly the same problem. I replaced the plug and socket for a decent sized anderson connector. No problems since.

If you ran large battery cables through to the back, an Anderson connector does give you an extra location for jump starts etc.

I used a 'Magcode connector':
I think it's a german system, I purchased it at Landreiziger: https://shop.landreiziger.nl/componenten/connectoren/magcode.html Main reasons to choose for Magcode is that they make a 90 degree angle and sit relatively flush. The pro version is lockable and can handle 25A continuously. They're also quite shallow, giving more possibilities in locations to choose from. The Waeco 12v power lead is compatible with Hella sockets. That might fix the problem without cutting the plug off the lead, but you'll still need a Hella socket.

My hella socket arrived today so I'm going to give that a go. It was only £9 so the cheapest and easiest option to try first.
