I have version 1 fitted and mud stuff sent the version 2 roller vent out FOC. I only fitted one to the passenger side and they're quite hard to adjust. I'd buy version one at a much lower price if i was buying again.

In other words, neither are worth getting.

Think I'll build my own version of the military winterisation kit.

I find the standard system ok if its working as it should and you slide the vents to feet bias once the screen is clear with blower on full. The heat rises up to the side windows. I do still crack the window open for a bit in the winter on a cold damp day which helps but it's not needed for long.

However I am sure some vehicles have more damp inside with various leaks than others which obviously doesn't help the condensation situation.

Also make sure the wing intake is not holding any water and the drain is clear.

I'm OK with the standard set up, was just looking for improvements, but only if they're worth either spending the money on, or making the effort. My 127 has as a few holes that let as much air in as they do water, so I get the worst, and best, of both worlds .... water gets in, but there's plenty of ventilation Rolling with laughter

I'm going to be stripping my bulkhead in situ in September, so was just looking at doing as many jobs as possible while it's in bits and improving the standard blower system air flow is one of them. Rebuild the heater box (with new matrix and seals etc), new ducting and a later dash top with the wider air vents, so the natural progression was to look at fitting side vents too. 1986, 127, ex Fire Tender and Ambulance

Been happy with my home made ones for best part of seven years now, work well. Limited by the volume of air moved by the blower but a massive improvement on the standard setup.

That makes sense nickburt, good luck with your rebuild Thumbs Up

I just think sometimes it's all too common to criticize some aspects of the defender (not that you did) when things just need maintenance/renewing or a different technique in the use of whatever it is in question.
Some bolt on stuff is just overpriced tat imo and not necessary. Obviously there's also genuinely useful things that can be found as well Smile
