So my first month of Defender ownership is finally over... how time flies when you're having fun... and spending money Laughing

So far I've done all the external cosmetic bits and bobs, privacy glass, security bonnet hinges and a re-map from Mike @ Dynachip (which is awesome and means I can get up the hill to my house without sounding like I'm trashing my engine)

A few photo's as I know they always go down well...
(Apologies for the dirty bonnet)

My favourite mod... you can never have enough stickers right Rolling Eyes

Next is a steering guard, the spare wheel carrier, steering wheel, sound proofing/carpets and more security.

The wheels are on hold until I can make my mind up... I thought I was there on that decision but I keep changing my mind so figure I might as well wait until I'm 100% sure Crying or Very sad

Looks great where did you get your privacy glad from? I'd love to do mine but it's £££'s

As for wheels, if you want an oem look go with black sawtooths but if you've got a big budget go for black bowler 18's. Only my opinion. Wink

Privacy glass was from Dave @ VGS, he came to the house and fitted it all within about 2/3 hours, 9 different bits of glass in total.

It is a pretty expensive way of going about it. I shopped around for other alternatives and it was still anywhere from £300-400 just for tinting (doing the job properly and taking the glass out). Some companies were very honest and said they don't even want the work because it's a pig of a job with the curved alpine windows.

I figured do it once and do it right and Dave came very highly recommended on this and other forums so took the plunge. Very pleased with my decision Thumbs Up

This is remarkably similar to my Defender, you should check out my pictures.

Did you go for the full panoramic glass in the rear as well?

I am intrigued by the security hinges on the bonnet, sorry if this is a Newb question but why are these important?

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out

You're right Defenderd... not quite twins yet Laughing

I didn't go for panoramic glass, just privacy... trying my hardest to keep it relatively oem... or at least mods which are easily reversible.

The bonnet hinges are just another security layer as you can't access the bolts from the outside... so every little helps Thumbs Up

A few updates from me from the past few weeks Cool

Continuing on with some of the practical mods...

Firstly some chequer plates on the lower door sills to prevent the normal scuffs and scratches. Decided to also match up the chequer plates on the side steps, bit of a pig getting them off but they're now re-fitted with counter sunk screws so I can re-paint to my hearts content.

Next up was a new steering wheel... love the difference that's made. This should hopefully go with some of the other interior mods I have planned for a later date Thumbs Up

Next up was a practical spare wheel carrier... went for the standard LR one in the end courtesy of Dan at Duckworths. Couldn't justify going for the super expensive German one who's name is unpronouncable but at least now I can think about changing my wheels with the peace of mind that I'm not going to rip my back door off in the process!

And last but not least for this month a little bit of bling for the front end, a nice shiny steering guard:

Next up is a new driveway and a holiday to pay for Big Cry
