Sandy sadly passed away last November after living with us for over 13 years leaving the family heartbroken.

So after getting over the loss we decided to look for a new pet and today we welcomed this little lady into our home.
Looking forward to seeing how she grows and develops and getting used to having a pup again.

She is a companion for our daughter who has special needs and really missed Sandy so much. No name yet until we find something that can be easily pronounced by our girl.

Good luck with that little life ‘adventure’!! She’s lovely.
What’s her name then?

After some trial and error we finally settled on "Willow".

House training is progressing well and we are all having more early mornings and exercise.

Had to make the kind but awful decision to put Fabbi our jack Russell terrier to sleep today.
At 12 years old she was full of life but struck down with a complicated illness.
She came with me every day for the last 10 years, I shall miss her terribly..

She will be sorely missed by all our family, loads of my customers and suppliers, always by my side in the Landy, having a go..
Give your dogs a good old hug from me tonight, they’re fantastic...

Young and old...

The pup on the left is about to turn 1 and the old lady on the right isn’t quite as old as she looks - 8 in a month or so (she is also on a bit of a diet having put on some timber after the shooting season).

Training is going quite well with the youngster, she did a blind ‘three card trick’ last night for the first time! We have entered a working test in a fortnight so that will be an experience Very Happy

I was right Smile the working test was an experience, a very enjoyable one with plenty of learning points. My lad did the dummy throwing all morning on one of the tests, and enjoyed that too.

I was running Tarka in a puppy test, and the first one of the four was a blind, no shot or marker at all (and no wind). She went out like a rocket, straight to the area, stopped, hunted and hunted, took direction, ran back and forth across the area but didn't scent the dummy (she must have come close to treading on the damn thing!). Called back in, null points and we were both rather crestfallen. The next test was a water retrieve, out fine, back to within a foot of me and I reached for the dummy and dropped it - null points. At least we were consistent to this point and the lads I play touch rugby with would bet on me dropping something. The third test was a straight marked retrieve following a bit of heel work and we did that ok, the last test was a marked retrieve with a shot and that was fine too.

It was a lesson in concentration for me and the a new experience for Tarka. She did a few water retrieves no problem at all the previous day, no stopping / dropping / shaking, and she has been finding blinds in thick cover for months. Our heel work needs to improve and we also need to focus on a more secure delivery.

There is another test in late July so I think we will have a crack at that.
