TD5 Respray
Hi Guys, I'm based in Sandhurst. Had the TD5 90 for 18 months now. Its got a couple on minor bodywork issues (Tub Cappings rusty and front air flap hinge rusty) I'm looking for a body-shop who can carryout the bodywork stuff and provide a complete colour change (Its currently bronze!) respray including bulkhead etc. Does anybody have any recommendation in this area or South. Many Thanks for any feedback. Paul

98 views, no feedback. Obviously nobody has ever resprayed a defender. I'll break out the emulsion paint.

I thought I saw something about normal sprayers can't do Defenders as they need a separate bay and tools for the non steel panels??

I am slowly making things up as I get older though?

My advice is get lots of feedback before choosing a painter and find out exactly what you are going to get and what you want out of a job.

There’s lots of seals and foams in a Defender that look like crap if painted over and the panels aren’t split. Lots of places will do you a cheap respray and that’s fine if that’s what you want.

My advice is to work out what you want and what you are getting for the price and get it in black and white on paper! as it varies a lot.

Some paint is £8 a litre and some is £100+ a litre. Is it 2k or are you wanting a clearcoat over the top etc

For a decent job that will last inside and out I wouldn’t expect to see much change out of £2000-£3000 considering half decent materials will be a good chunk of it.
