Homebrew satin black boosts?
Hello all,

Got some spare boosts laying about in the shed, a few scratches and dings on them, clear coat on its way out . Wondering how feasible it would be to get them painted or coated in a satin black that wouldn't flake or scratch off at the first sign of use..

Rattle cans and go for it, powder coat, or is a professional shop the only way to go?

Anyone got any before and after (and after) photos?

Cheers. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

If you want satin or Matt just use Matt lacquer. Auto paint suppliers for the aerosols. Ray

Looking great. I like them better than the original, especially once they get a bit of bush rash on them - and then so easy to maintain.

What prep is ideal (and low cost)?

Mine have no tyres mounted at the moment.. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

With no tyres it should be easier. A good sand back with 4-800 grit degrease then a good quality primer. Let it dry solid then a light sand to smooth anything out that you missed before and degrease again. Couple of coats of base coat then I gave it 15 mins in hot weather and lacquered over a couple of coats.

Cost would be about £23/30 but I had all the paint and materials already so it only cost me time. Ray

I am just trying to decide if I should paint my new take-off boosts black. There are eight of them to do - five for the car and three for the sankey.

Any chance of some photos showing the whole vehicle and the wheels?

Sorry for the thread hijack!

If you mean mine, this is the only photo I can find on my iPad, it's an old one but there should be a few in my build thread below.
