I use one when at home, when not at home my breaker bar is a similar length to my torque wrench, so I tighten it up to a similar level of grunt!

I've found that when I torque up any wheels (not just the wolfs) that after they're all done and i go for a 200m drive up and down the rd, over a couple of curbs then park it up again and repeat, often I'll have a little bit more to tweak them before the click...

But to answer one of your questions, I don't think there is a reliable enough gauge of 'how much further to turn to get the extra required stud tension/nut compression/friction' other than your accumulated personal experience having had a wheel come off or not Thumbs Up Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

I religiously tighten wheel nuts with a torque wrench, however during my apprenticeship at a Land Rover dealer in the 1960's i never once saw a torque wrench used to tighten up wheel nuts we used the good old fashioned spider wrench. I know it's more critical with alloys and that over tightening is more of an issue than not tightening enough.

Sadly these days a lot of main dealers use the method of air gun till snug, then a few more ugga duggas and that'll be reet
