[For Sale] window blocks
Hi,

It has taken forever but I’ve now got 20 pairs of window blocks ready to go. They are single billet aluminium (L168) and have been bead blasted and hard anodised. I’ve tried to keep them as close to the original part a possible. They are supplied with basic card gaskets which will need trimming to fit. They ship in individual plastic containers as per the photo below. They are £90 a pair which includes postage to the UK mainland. Highlands / islands / overseas postage will be charged at cost. Payment can be made via PayPal Me: paypal.me/huttopia. For each sale there is a benefit to the forum 👍

I'd have a pair but my 10yo blocks are still perfect. My Td5 had 3 sets in half that time.

Yes, there isn't much logic to it. I had a 2000 TD5 that was fine, but I've seen them bubble up on 2015/2016 vehicles. Perhaps it depends on whether the paint shop is in a hurry that day!

Mmmm, wonder if I could persuade Land Rover to fit these instead of their own!

2016 and 2015 defenders both going in for warranty work imminently, including the inevitable corroded window blocks Neutral Current Steeds:

Do these need painting or is the ha enough protection for them? Also, my internal bolt plates are rusty as hell, do you have replacement options there?

Hi Miker,

They don’t need to be painted. If you were to leave them unpainted I would suggest a coating of wax to prevent them fading. I don’t have replacement bolts available but will look to source some.

Thanks

Hi Doublea,

It is definitely worth asking the question! The paint finish on these will be much better and longer lasting than the standard LR cast blocks.

The paint quality is ok on the Lr blocks usually!....The problem is that the underside is not painted and where the unpainted edge meets the exterior paint if the paper seal allows moisture to build up and the small Ali block becomes a sacrificial anode to the bulkheads cathode....... If there is a good barrier between the block and the bulkhead you will slow down or stop the corrosion...pity LL did not paint the underside..cheapskates'!!
