John Ridgeway and his family used to (possibly still do) run an outdoor centre across the loch there. I think the un-named road is the 'road end' to their property. John rowed across the Atlantic with Chay Blyth way back when. I visited once, and they had the rowing boat in a shed by the house. It was primitive and heavy - a long way from the carbon kevlar things used for such adventures these days.
I know they used to have a galv-chassis LR to get stuff in/out of the centre. It has a pretty rough track, and parts only accessible at low tide. Donald 1994 Defender 300Tdi 110 SW - owned since 2002 - 230k miles and going strong (The 'rolling restoration' or tinkering thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic58538.html ) 2000 Range Rover P38 4.0L V8 in the past.. RR classic - fitted with 200Tdi 1984 RR classic - V8 with ZF auto box 1993 Discovery 300Tdi not to mention the minis and the Type 2 VW camper... |

Yes there is an activity centre just down the track, it is sign posted as private so we did not drive it. The 110 is on a galvanised chassis and looked completely original, station wagon trim. I have checked the registration number on line & it is on a sorn.

Very nice.
I hope it hasn't been abandoned and will not stay there for long. |
