Can defender 300tdi engine go into a discovery???
Hi all,
I have a quick question that I am sure many of you will know the answer to.
I have a 300tdi engine and gearbox removed from my old 110 ,
Can this go into an early disco belonging to my friend?
Any help appreciated. Thanks

There is no real difference between them. Between the Def and Disco 200tdi there was a lot of difference.

The only issue I can think of is that the engine and gearbox mounts if the 300 is going in to a 200 or v8 disco. Not sure about the bulkhead and gearbox tunnel though.

300 def to 300 disco yes it will go, use the original 300 disco intercooler and pipes believ the outlet anlges are slightly different but may be wrong.

300def to 200disco - yes but Gbox different and engine mounts. Cheers

Is the gearbox selector set not different between the two? I’m sure you have to swap them over to get it to fit. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

the engine is the same.
Gearbox is more of a problem you have to swap the top.

better get a disco one and save the 110 box, the selector quarters are impossible to get now and worth money. Fixing Land Rovers in rural Guanacaste

Yeh the discovery R380 has the long inputsgaft and bellhousing, , this moves the gearshift quadrant etc,,back[ beside centre conssel] , as the defender shift is forward [ on the floor]
