Oil in loom/red plug from injector harness, bad earth from ECM in the seat box, injector seals/washers but they will cause poor starting issues as well. Could even be crank sensor.
You could try a diagnostic plug in which may point you in the right direction. |

My old 90 did this. Changed the crank sensor with a genuine unit, problem solved.

This sounds awfully like your ECU is on the way out. I entirely expect that if/when you check for fault codes it will flash up topside switch faults. This is usually one of the two capacitors within the ECU that fails to charge up causing the engine to just stop. With my 2003 it happened more often that not when decelerating towards a junction. Managed to keep the ECU going for over a year because the fault was so unpredictable, go months without any problem then four or five engine cutouts in a day. Replaced the crank sensor, check oil in the loom, replaced injector seals and top loom to no effect. Replacement ECU solved the problem. |

Should have said a Nanocom or Hawkeye will diagnose the topside error in minutes. Someone on here must have one close to you.
