Good that you had a long enough dry spell to do it with all the non stop rain that we are having at the moment Rolling Eyes 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

Don't mind the rain actually - can mean overtime in work which can come in handy.

Anyway finally got round to finishing the carpet off in the rear. I was under the impression that it would be fairly straightforward. However I think I turned out to be the most awkward part, mainly down time the fact of having to cut round the internal roll bar mounts and trying to make a neat job of the joins of the front part of the rear wheel arch. So all in all I must have took over a day to do it.
Anyway it doesn't look too bad a finish and it's the last major job (for now) that I'm going to do.

Pretty pleased with how the front now looks

Also I managed to get round to removing/refitting the o/s rear sliding window as it was leaking water thanks to a lack of rivets and some poorly applied bathroom sealant Rolling Eyes

Managed to get good friend (whose a windscreen fitter) to bond and rivet it back in place so now more leaks hopefully.

Lastly fitted the decals to the drivers side of the vechicle, I don't think this side when on as well as the other side - few more air bubbles but it still looks ok, don't think it helped being dropped sticky side down on the gravel drive Big Cry 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0

Small update - having not done to much to it the last 6 weeks or so I decided to remove the orginal front speakers to something half decent to match the ones in the rear, so splashed out on some 4inch pioneers, which seem to be a big improvement and a good price for £20

Also I got round to fitting the heated seat switches to work the elements in the puma seats that came fitted to the vechicle when I bought it - although not o/e they don’t look to bad in the cubby box, just got to finish wiring them up.

Thanks Clayton, I must admit I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how little has gone wrong since it’s been back on the road. There’s still a few jobs left to do but they are all pretty minor. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0

Having spent numerous hours removing all the crud of the chassis when I first bought it, I thought I’d try and eliminate it happening again. So I had some thick plastic sheet lying around, so after making some brackets and adding some stainless bolts I was left with this.

It fits pretty well so the majority of crud should be kept of the surrounding parts of the chassis, just got to do the other side to do Big Cry 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0

Took another family vw to the paint shop a few weeks back. It’s been the first time I’ve towed with this one, and I was surprised how well it pulled compared to my old works puma. Admittedly it’s got less weight in the back compared to the works one but nevertheless I was pretty pleased with it, considering it’s the older less powerful 300tdi

Also managed to resolve the annoying issue of having no working courtesy light for the past few months, after having the alarm module tested and checking all obvious potential faults, I finally traced it down to a multi plug located behind the fuse box. So to celebrate I fitted a couple of led bulbs in both interior lights. I also repaired the bonnet switch which one of the previous owners had cut the wires on Rolling Eyes

Also did an oil change, along with redoing the sump gasket, taking the sump off I discovered that the front of the sump was pretty corroded so I ended up grinding it back and adding some more metal in with the mig. Ideally a new sump would be the way to go but I’ll see how this fairs, doesn’t look to bad now it’s painted up and refitted.

Finally I’ve picked up a 300tdi discovery transfer box with the higher ratio, so that will be fitted in the next month or so, along with a new clutch as well. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0
